 Video Games

You know all those people that told you that video games are bad for you? They were wrong. Read the text quickly and underline the words you alreadyknow.

 Video Games are good for you! For years, video games have been criticized for making people more antisocial, overweight, or depressed. But now researchers are finding that games can actually change us for the better and improve both our body and mind.

 Games can help to develop physical skills. Preschool children who played interactive games, such as the ones available on Wii, have been shown to have improved motor skills – for example, they can kick, catch, and throw a ball better than children who don’t play video games. A study of surgeons who do microsurgery in Boston found that those who played video games were 27 percent faster and made 37 percent fewer errors than those who didn’t. Vision is also improved, particularly telling the difference between shades of grey. This is useful for driving at night, piloting a plane, or reading X-rays. 

Games also benefit a variety of brain functions, including decision-making. People who play action-based games make decisions 25 percent faster than others and are no less accurate, according to one study. In another study by researchers from the University of Rochester in New York, experienced gamers were shown to be able to pay attention to more than six things at once without getting confused, compared with the four that most people can normally keep in mind. Additionally, video games can also reduce gender differences. Scientists have found that women who play games are better able to mentally manipulate 3D objects. 80 shades skills scans behavior field attention decisions difference  

There is also evidence that gaming can help with psychological problems. At the University of Auckland, in New Zealand, researchers asked 94 young people diagnosed with depression to play a 3D fantasy game called SPARX and, in many cases, the game reduced symptoms of depression more than conventional treatment. Another research team at Oxford University found that playing Tetris shortly after exposure to something very upsetting – in the experiment, a film of traumatic scenes of injury and death was used – can actually prevent people from having disturbing flashbacks.

 The effects are not always so positive, however. Indiana University researchers carried out brain scans on young men and found evidence that violent games can alter brain function after as little as a week of play, affecting regions in the brain associated with emotional control and causing more aggressive behavior in the player. However, Daphne Bavelier, one of the most experienced researchers in the field, says that the violent action games that often worry parents the most may actually have the strongest beneficial effect on the brain. In the future, we may see many treatments for physical and neurological problems that incorporate the playing of videogames

2nd English class

 Hello everybody, are you fine? In this second we will start Simple Past 

Regular Past simple forms are formed by adding -ed to the infinitive of the verb. 

Para formar verbos regulares do passado  basta acrescentar "ed "no final           

start → started

kill → killed

jump → jumped

 There are some spelling rules. If a verb ends in -e, you add -d. ( Quando o verbo termina  com "e" basta acrescentar "d"

agree → agreed

like → liked

escape → escaped

Past simple – regular verbs

Write the past simple form of the verb in brackets.

5th English Class

 O tempo do futuro na língua inglesa tem duas formas: o futuro com o verbo auxiliar "will" e com a expressão "to be going to".

In this 5th  class we will study future.

Este tempo verbal é formado pela colocação do verbo auxiliar "will" antes do verbo principal em sua forma natural.
Futuro Simples - Simple Future

O Futuro Simples é a forma verbal comumente usada para expressar eventos que ainda não aconteceram.

É formado com o auxiliar modal (modal auxiliary) will + o infinitivo do verbo principal sem 'TO' para todas as pessoas, ou seja, este tempo verbal não sofre nenhuma flexão para expressar o futuro. Observe as formas e os usos deste tempo verbal:

* FORMA CONTRAÍDA: I/You/He/She/It/We/You/They' ll

Forma afirmativa

will wait for you in front of the College. (Esperarei por você na frente da faculdade.)

They will help us when they have a time. (Eles nos ajudarão quando tiverem tempo.)

She will only be at home next month. (Ela só estará em casa no mês que vem.)

AFFIRMATIVE FORM: SUJEITO + WILL + INFINITIVO DO VERBO PRINCIPAL SEM 'TO'.

Forma negativa

A forma negativa do Simple Future forma-se acrescentando not após o auxiliar modal will. O verbo principal permanece no infinitivo sem 'TO'. Veja alguns exemplos:

* FORMA CONTRAÍDA: WILL + NOT = WON'T

Rachel won't come. (Raquel não virá.)

I think it will not rain in the day of your marriage. (Acho que não choverá no dia do seu casamento.)

He won't go with us. (Ele não irá conosco.)

will not celebrate my birthday next year, I've spent much money in my last birthday's party. (Não comemorarei meu aniversário no ano que vem, gastei muito dinheiro em minha última festa de aniversário.)

NEGATIVE FORM: SUJEITO + WILL + NOT + INFINITIVO DO VERBO PRINCIPAL SEM 'TO'.

Forma interrogativa

Na forma interrogativa do Simple Future o auxiliar modal will posiciona-se antes do sujeito. O verbo principal permanece no infinitivo sem 'TO'. Veja alguns exemplos:

Will he travel abroad? (Ele viajará para o exterior?)

Where will you spend your vacation? (Onde você passará as férias?)
